The Virginia Natural Hair Expo is an annual one day event. The purpose of the event is to educate those in the natural community on the importance of knowing proper care of their natural tresses. The event will also feature Nail & Body care, hair care classes and live tutorials, as well as Barber Battles, salon competitions, and more! The Virginia Natural Hair Expo was designed to share information, techniques, inspiration and products to aid individuals in their natural hair journey. This is also an event where you can network and meet those with like interest!
I decided to go natural after realizing that relaxers were no longer benefiting my hair. I had worked my way from "kiddie perms" to now needing a "Super" which eventually stopped straightening my hair.
I did not do the "BIG CHOP", I opted to allow my relaxer to grow out. At 2-3 inches of relaxed ends left, I decided to chop the rest of the relaxed ends off. That was 11 years ago!
Though 11 years may seem like a long time, I am nowhere near a professional of Natural Tresses. I have never done a twist out, braid out, etc. I always wore a beautiful puff, which quickly became irritating, as I still didn't understand the damage that style was causing.
I JUST HAD SO MANY QUESTIONS!
I enlisted the help of many local beauty professionals, and realized that without their help, I would be further damaging my hair.
This is the case for many of us with natural hair.
Which prompted me to create this natural hair expo, to educate the naturalista, and help them to maintain healthy tresses.
The Vision for the Virginia Natural Hair Expo, is to link the Client with the proper professional help. With the right education and support, a Naturalista is able to maintain natural tresses, with less breakage and damage. This Expo gives you a 1 on 1 setting with many professional who are there to answer any questions and recommend products for your hair type!
